The Justice for Our Neighbor Ministry (JFON) program initiated by the General Board of Global Ministries in 1999 has served thousands of immigrants throughout the United States. The United Methodist Community on Relief (UMCOR) sponsors the program with 24 clinic sites operating nationwide. JFON-West Michigan was formed in 2004 with a site hosted at Grand Rapids First United Methodist Church.  In 2005, a second sited hosted by First United Methodist Church of Holland was opened.

The new anti-immigrant law passed in Arizona and the similar one introduced into Michigan legislature should serve as a wake-up call to comprehensive immigration reform supporters -  Anti-Immigrant sentiment can propel legislation!  This law brings all who “look different” into question and will cause much suffering for families of mixed-status and US citizen children, not to mention the legal immigrants who are wrongfully questioned or detained.  One wonders what is next - if we fail to speak out!   Please go to our NEWS page to read more about the new law.
